Mommy took me to Cox Farms for their Fall Festival. It was a lot of fun! They have hay rides and slides and a scary corn maze and awesome apple cider and at the end you get a pumpkin.

Uncle Rob gave me a plasma car. I am so fast that Mom can't even get a picture of me! And Uncle Rob gave me a stomp rocket. I can even aim it all by myself. I almost took out the plasma TV! Then Momma banished it to the sunroom. She's a real party pooper.

Preschool here I come!

After much angst, Mommy chose a preschool for me! In the fall I will be going to Faith Lutheran preschool. It is a Reggio Emilia school and that sounds like a lot of fun even though I don't know a lot about it. They have learning centers, though, and that beats sitting down in a circle for most of the day. I don't sit still real well, so the teachers must understand little kids like me. Here is the outside of my school. I will be a Caterpillar.

Inside it is all bright and colorful and decorated with all of the art projects.

Aren't you jealous? Don't you want to go to preschool too?

One of the four year old classes made a Rainforest in the class. Cool, huh?

This is where I will get to eat lunch. Mommy will have to pack me something good to eat every day but NO peanuts. They're not allowed. Every day Teacher will put my lunchmat at a different table so I get to meet all of the kids.

I get a hook in the hallway to hang my jacket and backpack. Cool, huh? I have to get a backpack!

And we do an art project every week with the art teacher. She has a special name like Artelisteria or something. But she takes kids three at a time into her studio to do a 30 minute project every week. Sometimes I will get to take them home to show Mom, and sometimes they will be for the class project like this.

Last week they had a special Winter Festival. Mom took me and I got my facepainted for the first time. I got a lizard. It felt funny but I sat really still.

All of my nannies except Miss Sarah (who is now Mrs Sarah) came back for the Nanny Reunion Previously known as the Annual Pumpkin Carving Party. I had lots of fun with them, even though I was a little confused at first. And my best buddy Oliver came too.

I don't know if any of my faithful readers noticed or not, but I was away last week. Far away. In a great land called Michigan. Half of my family is from there. My momma's half. There is even a family farm there. It is over 140 years old. That is like a bazillion times older than me. And I don't even know what a bazillion is! My Great Uncle Freddie took me on a tractor ride there. It was pretty cool. Here is me standing in front of the barn and in front of the farmhouse.

I got to see my Great Grandma and my Great Grandpa too. They are about 140, too, I think. Grandma really likes me. She played peekaboo with me.

I played in the Fountains and Fountainview, too. I watered the plants real good. It was hot out so I thought they would be thirsty. Great Grandma didn't really seem interested in drinking the water I brought her from the fountain. I don't know why.

And here's Great Uncle Carter taking me on a backyard tour. Great Aunt Nancy read me Pat the Bunny every day. Some times a coupla times in a row. That Paul and Judy... always wanting to play hide and seek...

My momma made a really yummy carrot cake. Even Ollie liked it!

I got really cool presents like this sandbox and a new pool for the summer (Note from Momma: sandbox and pool need to stay at least 50 feet away from one another or the sandbox becomes and pool and the pool becomes a sandbox...)

And Gramma and Grampa got me my very first Tricycle! A Red Rider! With a bell. And a license plate with my name on it from Ohio. I am soooo the coolest kid on the block now!

We are in Florida. That is somewhere south is all I know. It is warm here all day long and it has rained a LOT. I don't think I've seen 10 inches of rain in my entire life all combined until this week! Here are a few pictures of my first trip to Disney World.

I got to meet Woody from Toy Story. He is pretty tall with his hat on. This is during the street parade, too.

My favorite was the carousel. I rode it seven times! We also went on Peter Pan, Winny the Pooh, and It's A Small World.

Mommy and Daddy are sooo way cool! They took me to "A Day Out with Thomas." For those of you without 2 to 8 year olds at home, Thomas is the way coolest little Tank Engine around. Here is me with Daddy and Thomas.

The best part was that then we got to go on BOARD Thomas and take a train ride! How lucky can a little guy get?!

After that I got to meet Sir Topham Hatt... he runs all the train stations on Sodor Island where Thomas lives. Just between you and me, Sir Hatt is a little scarier in person than he in on tv.

I go to play with the train sets and the big wooden locomotive, too. That was really fun. I got to be the conductor and ring the bell.

My momma has been a little lax in helping me to update this blog. Now, to be fair, I have become an active "little pistol" (I think that's what momma called me) and haven't given her much time to take pictures or upload them. But I think she oughta be on the ball a little more anyhow. How else is a little guy gonna get his message out to the world?

Here are some pictures of me at the Cherry Blossoms this year. Well, most of the pictures are of me at the FDR Monument water fountains. They were MUCH more cool that those stupid trees. I didn't really care for those trees. Now the water... that made cool noise and was fun to splash in.

I did finally cave and let momma get a few shots of me and Oliver in the tree. That part was okay. But I had to wail a little bit just for good effect. (Can't let her think that I enjoy all of her ideas, after all.)

Momma's been a little lame about helping me keep up this blog lately. And when Auntie LeAnn points that out, you know it's time to pick up the slack. So as soon as Momma got rid of her cold and laryngeetis I made her start downloading pictures. And we're starting with Christmas for goodness sake.

I spent this week in South Carolina with Grandma and Grandpa and Momma and Dad. We had lots of fun on the beach, even if the water was way colder than Puerto Rico.

Grandma and Grandpa took me to the playground and let me go down the big slide!

Here is our really cool living room. Our villa (that's a fancy word for house) is right smack on the beach. That's 'cause little guys like me can't walk too far yet.

I've been taking swimming lessons! I learned how to blow bubbles, how to kick, how to doggie paddle, and almost how to float. We sing silly songs like "the wheels on the bus" and "itsy bitsy spider." Today I got my graduation diploma. All that really means is that Mommy can now spend another $96 to enroll me in Waterbabies II. I like sequels!

Now Momma needs to start feeding me tuna noodle casserole after swim lessons just like Grandma used to feed her!

I also learned a new word: "DUCKY!"

I had a super fun weekend! My first nanny Brittany came back to see me (and to run the Marine Corps Marathon -- HoooAH!) and we went to Boo at the Zoo and Mommy had a party just for me to show off my new astronaut suit on Sunday. Oh and some people carved those punkin things too... they carved some funny-named people too... Barry and Sarah.

What a difference a year makes! Last year at this time I couldn't even sit up! Now I can climb all over those bad boy pumpkins!! I think I've lost a little bit of baby fat too. Man was I a chubbster!

I have been blogging for about a year now, and here I am 16 months old and soooo much bigger than last year! Momma took me to Cox Farms for their Pumpkin Bash. We went down the giant slippery slide and saw milk cows and piggies and chickens. And I got to climb on the hay and pumpkins. It was tons of fun. Natalie and Oliver and Hadassah went too.

Momma took me to the barber this weekend. She had grand plans of getting some cute pictures of me getting my hair cut for the very first time. Pictures for the scrapbook. Pictures for Grandma and Abuela. She brought her camera. The nice lady sat me on a high up padded seat. The nice lady put a black cape thingy around me. Then I melted down! That was fun. Momma had to hold me the whole time and all I wanted to do was look at the nice lady with the shiny scissors but she kept trying to put them behind my head and snip. I didn't like that so much. So I had to squirm some more. Momma didn't like that so much. I'm lucky I didn't lose an ear, she said. So anyhow, I still have my ears, but there are a few long patches mixed in with my cut. But overall, a pretty good look for a little guy like me. What do you think of my "after" shots?

So now Momma says that when Oliver and Hadassah come over we are gonna start learning stuff. This week we learned how to sign "banana" and "cheese." And Momma had rewards for us too. I might actually like this learning stuff if she keeps feeding me cheese. I'm not so sure what the reward is gonna be for signing fish or broccoli, so I'm hanging with just signing "cheese" for everything right now. I wish she would teach me the sign for "ice cream."
Here's me and my home-kiddos learning. Really Hadassah was the only one paying attention. She's SUCH a girl.

I can sign now for "eat," "cheese," "milk," "more," "all done," "bye bye," and I blow kisses. I have been known to throw in the occassional "please" and "thank you" but only when coerced. (Ya gotta keep the folks guessing). Mommy's trying to get me to learn "kitty" and "puppy" too, along with mommy and daddy. These all aren't as easy as they might seem. I get them confused sometimes.

And I have TWO real words now. Ball and Cheese. Of course, Cheese kinda sounds like "Ch eeeeee s" and sometimes I forget the "s"... but that's why I learned the sign!

I got to play with Oliver again today. This time our friend Hadassah was with us too. Oliver has a big sand box by his house. Boy was that ever a mess! Mom is still finding sand inside. (I snuck it into my bed in my shorts!) It's hard to tell from these pictures, but we really did all play together pretty good. Momma complimented me on my best behavior. I'm not all that crazy about "best behavior" because it means I have sign "please" and "thank you" like Oliver can. I think that's the only reason Mom likes our little play group... so she can find out what O and H are doing and make me do it, too.

Gramma got me some really cool trucks. Thomas tried to take them all home at my birthday party, but his Mommy wouldn't let him. Thank goodness. I really like them too and I want to keep them!

I had to say goodbye to my favorite nanny ever, Miss Brittany. She went back to grad school last week. But now I have a new favority nanny ever. Her name is Sarah. She is super sweet and feeds me yummy stuff and takes me on walks just like Brittany did. That's her on the left.

Brittany taught Sarah where the park is and how to push me in my favorite swing and all too. So now Sarah is all trained up on all things Joshua.

My Great Uncle Freddie visited me this weekend! He took me to the Udvar-Hazy museum. I had no idea that museums could be so cool. I've never been to one before after all. I've had a teensy little problem since starting this "solid" food stuff... I don't quite know how to swallow the solid parts yet. It kind of gags me. I even threw up a few times. And throwing up the chunks is just no fun. But mommy has found these new Puffies. They melt in my mouth and they come in tasty flavors like cherry, banana, and sweet potato. I have learned to pinch them to pick them up. When I used to grab them in my palm, I couldn't really let go and they would get stuck there. Gosh that was frustrating. I leaned up against it to try to stand and next thing I knew I had landed on my noggin. That wasn't too fun and I made my displeasure known to the folks for quite a while. Luckily my memory is pretty short so it hasn't stopped my mobility one little bit.

My Bradley Buds

I have a play group! Actually, I have had a play group since before I was even born. My mommy did something called Bradley Childbirth classes... they were supposed to help her have me all natural and stuff. But, even though it worked pretty well, I guess I was a little pistol coming out all crooked and really messed up her plan. Anyhow, Hadassah and Oliver were in their mommy's tummies when we all first met. Now we get to play together on the outside. We are just starting to learn how to have fun together. I think they are pretty neat. Here we are playing today. It was really nice and warm for March, mommy said. I don't know. I've never seen a March before. This is my first one.

Hadassah has cool toys that she lets me play with. I have to concentrate real hard on these triangles. I just know they must come apart. (Most of my other toys do!)

Goomers and Cheeks Oh My!

I am just adding to my trick repertoire by the day. Here is the new one that I just added today. You have to practice looking svelte when you are 8 months old, so I learned how to suck in my cheeks.

And here I am showing off my two teeth. I'm pretty proud of them and I love to chomp on anything that gets in the way!

The Piano Man

I got a really cool present for Christmas from Abuela... it's this piano. I could just stand at it and "play" for hours. Well, at least for a half hour... my legs kinda give out after that. It gives me real good practice with my balance 'cause more than once I have pulled it over on top of me. Momma says we need to nail it to the floor. She also says that if she hears "Itsy Bitsy Spider" or "Row row row your boat" one more time her ears are going to bleed. I think that would be a neat trick. I might have to try it.

Baby Einstein

Boy that Einstein guy must be pretty smart. He came up with some pretty cool baby toys that I love to play with! My favorite girlfriends, the Burkes, have lent me this cool thing called an Exersaucer. I don't get too much exercise in it, it only goes around in circles... but it is a pretty neat toy. Here you can see me sitting in it looking all cool and boy-like...

The Straw Master

Mommy tricked me.

She got me to drink apple juice out of a cup. Then she popped a lid on it and gave it back to me. I KNEW what was in there. So I had to suck it out. She's been trying for a few weeks to get me to use a sippy cup. She has a few different kinds. One kind I spill all over myself because it just leaks out the spout. The second kind doesn't leak, but I can't figure out how to work it, so I just drool on it and throw it around. Mom eventually gets the point and takes it away. The third kind has this straw thing. That's the one she tricked me with.

I overheard my pediatrician tell Mommy that in just a few months I won't be quite as receptive to the sippy cup. Nothin' doin'... I like my bottle just fine right now, not to mention a few months from now. But anyhow I did figure out that if you suck hard enough on this straw thing, you get the good stuff! And that apple juice is yummy. Now just between you and me, I am kinda sweet on Dr Kim. She is one neat pediatrician. Not that I know too many. I get to go see her again in just 3 weeks for my 9 month check up. I hope she is impressed with my sippy cup skills!

months old that is... wow, has it been a whirlwind! I have learned so much. I'm still not all that big into crawling yet. I would much rather hold mommy or daddy's hands and walk around. Getting up on your knees is just so much work. There's no pictures right now because I've got a little bit of a runny nose, and I don't want to show you all that gook... It's pretty blucky because I don't like to have my face wiped. Mommy does what she can, but I am pretty evasive for such a little guy!

My Dad is the coolest guy in the whole universe. He is my protector. And not just of me, but of the whole country. (Now tell me THAT isn't cool!) I love to hang out with him. He likes to tickle me and toss me in the air (except right after supper... he learned his lesson BIG time on that one!) I especially like his uniform. We are manly men.

I know it's way past football season and all... I did get to watch part of the Superbowl last night before bedtime... but it got me thinking about how Great Auntie Linda got me the coolest hat for Christmas. In fact, it's my only hat right now. (I think Uncle Jody might have had something to do with it, too!) I really like wearing it on my walks. It keeps my ears toasty warm, and I hear that that is important for a little guy like me. Here I am showing off my new cap with Mom.

Brittany is my new friend. She is from Texas. Now, I don't know where that is, but she sure does talk different. Texas must be like a whole 'nother country or something. Anyhow, she plays with me and watches me nap when Mommy and Daddy aren't here. Sometimes she even gives me lunch -- I love yobaby yogurt. I can eat a whole container of it in one sitting and I don't even throw up! That's quite an accomplishment when your stomach is the size of a walnut. But I'm working on stretching it out a bit.

Anyhow, here is me and Brittany. It's her birthday today. Happy Birthday Brittany!

I'm a big boy now! Today I pulled up to a stand for the very first time. I've been trying for awhile, but it takes a bit to make enough muscle to do this. It's a little tricky, so be careful out there if you are trying this too. Of course, you got to do it while the folks have their backs turned so you kinda freak them out. And I highly recommend doing this in the crib for the first. Cause it didn't hurt nearly so much when I fell backwards on my butt. Hey, I got worn out with all that pulling... No one told me I had to hang on once I got up there. (I'm pretty tall, by the way, and it's a long way to the ground now!)

Liz Vance is my photographer. She makes me look so good! I love going to her warm studio and stripping all of my clothes off and having my picture taken! (She's pretty talented at hiding all those pertinent little baby parts from the camera lens.) Momma says I take after her in that I am not terribly photogenetic, or something like that... but I think I look pretty good!

My First Snow!

Boy, this year has been full of "firsts" for me! My first teeth, my first mosquito bite, my first food, and now my first SNOW! Of course, I really don't get what all the fuss is about. Mom says it's cold, but I don't really understand what cold is... I am all warm and snuggly every time she takes me outside, and my room is all toasty warm, and now I get to wear these snuggly warm clothes, too. But I guess it's a big deal.

This Christmas thing is coming up too. The folks are getting all these lights and pretty papers out. Looks pretty neat to me. I can't wait to play with a few of those boxes! Momma says quite a few of them are for me! I think boxes look pretty nifty!

Moosy-pants!

I just love my Moosey, Mortimer. He never gets called Mortimer though... it's usually just Moosey. Mommy decided that I needed a pair of handmade knit pants to wear when I play with Moosey. So she paid a lady named Amy to make a pair for us. They are really cool. Amy has a company called Crankypants and she specializes in making Monster Booty, but she agreed to do a special design just for us!

I just LOVE all of the wool pants that Momma has gotten for me. And I LOVE my cloth diapers. They are so soft on my bum. They breath so much better than those paper diapers... those are hot and sticky. And the best part is that Momma says I have never had a diaper rash. Now I don't know what that is, but it doesn't sound too appealing to me.

The names of the diapers make me giggle... I have Fuzzi Bunz and Bum Genius and Berry Plush and Thirsties and Daisy Doodles and of course my new Crankypants! Life is Good!

Momma says that there are tons of blogs out there. Grandma keeps talking and talking about Mrs Sophia's blog for her boys (Mom says that's Grandma's way of saying "I want more updates on my little Joshua!") I like being Grandma's special boy, so I keep acting all cute for the folks so that they will take more pictures of me and spread them around. I guess it finally worked cause Mom has me typing this blog out now. Sheesh, a guy can't catch a break around here... I've gotta do all this work by myself!

Well, we've gotta at least try to keep up with the Strongs... Mrs Sophia's blog is one of our favorites. I am trying hard to catch up to William, but I think it will take a while. Not only can I barely stand up, but I don't even crawl yet (I mean, Mom carries me every where I need to go and brings Moosey to me when I cry... what more does a guy need?) Now, Momma needs to catch up to Mrs Sophia... she has video and everything on their blog. Way cool. I try to tell Momma that she needs to be cool, too. But I know she is trying, and a little guy can't have everything! Maybe someday we will even catch up to Mrs Angela... her blog has a webcam! I am learning all about things I get to look forward to when I am 18 months old!

Houston We Have Teeth!

I am 5 months and 2 weeks old today and I HAVE TEETH!
Look out world, I am ready to eat you up!

Mommy and Daddy say that I have been grumpy lately, and I have been drooling and chewing on everything. But they don't remember how much hard work this growing up stuff really is. I mean, there are new things to taste, and new teeth and bones to grow. Not everyone can put on 13 pounds in just 5 months! I am now a lean mean eating machine.

On Thanksgiving, I got my first taste of the real world stuff. But it was orange and kinda gross. Mom tried to fool me by mixing it with that rice cereal that I already recognize, but Nothin' Doin'... I crinkled up my nose but good and pushed it away. They said it was carrots, but it tasted like my socks. Now, those PEAS... let's talk about those peas. I have two words for them... YUMMM mmeeeeee! I think I could eat peas all day long.
